PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To output an alarm, if multi-rotation data are not increased or decreased when one-rotation data are changed from 0°to 360°, or from 360°to 0°. SOLUTION: In this encoder signal output abnormality detection method, an alarm signal 3 is outputted, if the multi-rotation data 2 are not increased when the one-rotation data 1 are changed from 0°to 360°, and if the multi-rotation data 2 are not decreased when the one-rotation data 1 are changed from 360°to 0°.
