PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hardness tester capable of performing focus adjustment suitably by designating a plurality of focus adjustment positions. SOLUTION: The plurality of focus adjustment positions on a sample S on which a hollow X is formed are designated by an input part 8, and an imaging part 2 is operated by operation by an operation panel 5 to be focused on each focus adjustment position designated by a focus adjustment position designation means, and a focusing degree of the hollow X imaged by the imaging part 2 operated by the operation panel 5 at the designated focus adjustment position is calculated by a focusing degree calculation means (a CPU 61, a focusing degree calculation program 63a), and an indicator for showing the focusing degree calculated by the focusing degree calculation means at each focus adjustment position is displayed on a monitor 7 by an indicator display control means (the CPU 61, an indicator display control program 63b).
