PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superhydrophilic membrane not limited by a used site. SOLUTION: The superhydrophilic membrane mainly comprising an amorphous silica has fine pores in the interior and on the surface. Not less than 80 vol.% of the whole fine pores are pores having≤3 nm diameters, and the static contact angle of water on the surface of the superhydrophilic membrane is≤2°(excluding 0°).
