The invention describes the use of interferon-alpha 14 polypeptides and DNA encoding the same for the treatment of diseases characterised by abnormal cell proliferation, such as cancer. In particular the present invention relates to the use of a human interferon-alpha 14 polypeptide, designated N72D, its alleles, variants, derivatives, homologues, analogues and fragments thereof and, further, to purified and isolated forms of human interferon-alpha 14 polypeptides, its alleles, variants, derivatives, homologues, analogues and fragments thereof, which have been recombinantly produced by higher eukaryotic cells including mammalian cells and, in particular, Chinese hamster ovary cells. |
