<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus having such a constitution that toner staining occurring when a transfer bias is applied can be surely prevented. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 1 having such a constitution that an electrostatic latent image formed on a latent image carrier 2 is processed to obtain a visible image and then, the visible image is transferred to a transfer material carried by a conveying member is provided with a pre-transfer exposure means 20 uniformly exposing the latent image carrier 2, before the transfer is performed.
