PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce uneven illuminance on an object surface and uneven illuminance on an image surface in an image reader where a light source having a plurality of point light sources is constituted. SOLUTION: The light source is constituted by arranging LED elements L1 to L22 in a line. The image surface of an original is irradiated with direct irradiating light from the light source 12 and indirect irradiating light from the light source 12 which is reflected by the reflection surface 81a of a reflector 81. The reflection surface 81 is formed by repeating small waves (b) in the same pitch as the uneven illuminance on the object surface, whereby uneven direct irradiation is reduced. By smoothly hollowing the side on the inside of the reflection surface 81a in recessed shape, the uneven illuminance on the object surface caused by cosine fourth-power law is reduced.
