PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device which is equipped with a mechanism to prevent a recording liquid from drying in the discharge opening of a recording head and on the discharge opening forming surface and a recording liquid which causes no defective discharge by the control of the drying of the recording liquid. SOLUTION: The image forming device for forming an image on a recording medium by making a water recording liquid containing a coloring material fly from the recording head 21, has a cap 22 to block the recording liquid discharge opening of the recording head 21 and is provided with a liquid absorbing member 23 butting against the discharge opening in the interior of the cap 22.
