The invention relates to a venting element for a ridge cap of a roof, being characterized by a mounting member (2) to be fastened to the ridge cap (1) of a metal-sheeted roof, the mounting member comprising a collar (4) having a substantially rectangular cross section and surrounding an opening (3) to be made in the ridge cap (1), and a fastening flange (5) surrounding the collar (4) and being adaptable to the shape of the ridge cap (1) as well as a ring-shaped filter element (6) surrounding the upper portion of the collar (4), and a protecting hood (7) to be mounted over the mounting member (2), the inner surface of said protecting hood being in contact with the outer edge of the filter element (6) so as to form a passage (8) through the filter element (6) enabling a flow of air exiting the roof structure but preventing water and snow from entering the collar (4) and from there the roof structures.
