<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sensor capable of suppressing that moisture adversely affects a detecting section through an inner chamber by suitably discharging the moisture resident in an outer chamber. <P>SOLUTION: The gas sensor 1 comprises a detecting element 10, a main body fitting 50, and a protector 100. The protector 100 comprises an inner protector 120 for storing the detecting section 11 on the tip side of the detecting element 10, and an outer protector 110 that is disposed outside the inner protector 120 and stores the inner protector 120. The outer protector 110 has an outer cylindrical section 111, and a flange section 112 having an opening 114. The inner protector 110 has an inner cylindrical section 121, and a lid section 122.
