<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous pigment dispersion superior in dispersion stability, storage stability and solvent resistance, and of low viscosity, as well as a recording liquid for an inkjet printer containing the dispersion. <P>SOLUTION: This aqueous pigment dispersion comprises an aqueous medium (a), a pigment (b), and a cationic polymer (c). The cationic polymer (c) is a copolymer having at least one cationic monomer and at least one hydrophobic monomer as structural units, and one terminal of the copolymer chain is combined with a hydrophobic group R (R is an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, an aryl group or an aralkyl group of 1-20 carbon which may optionally have a substituent, and may be linear, branched or cyclic) via a sulfide bond.
