The assembly has a steering wheel, and a display device (8) that is provided for displaying driving information of a motor vehicle. A detection device (10) is arranged on the steering wheel and detects an attentiveness status of a driver of the motor vehicle. The detection device controls the display device depending on the detected attentiveness status of the driver, where the display device is arranged on a steering wheel rim (5). An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a display device under utilization of a steering wheel assembly.
