An image forming apparatus is provided to prevent a thermostat from being broken down by preventing a fixing unit from being overheated. A temperature sensing unit(10) senses the temperature of a fixing unit. The first overheat preventing unit(20) compares a voltage sensed by the temperature sensing unit and a pre-set reference voltage, and if the fixing unit is overheated, the first overheat preventing unit turns off the fixing unit. A controller receives the sensed voltage from the temperature sensing unit via an A/D port and controls ON or OFF operation of the fixing unit so that the fixing unit can maintain a certain temperature. The second overheat preventing unit(40) compares the sensed voltage and the voltage of the A/D port, and if there is a voltage difference, the second overheat preventing unit turns off the fixing unit. |
