A method for optimizing files in a web server is provided to increase an available hard disk storage area, offer web services quickly, and check the file needed for the web services quickly by automatically searching and moving unnecessary files not used for the web services to a backup folder, or automatically making a list of the needed files. A source of web service files is completely analyzed in a web server. A file list of each web service folder is automatically made by analyzing the web service folders. The unnecessary files not used for the web services are automatically moved to a backup folder and a list of the files needed for the web services is automatically made by comparing a source analysis result with the file list of the web service folders.
