PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the crack of a heating element when rapid heating and to achieve speeding-up of an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The heating element 30 formed to be curved in one direction is used as the heating element 30 used for a fixing device which fixes an unfixed toner image transferred to a recording medium in the image forming apparatus. Residual stress F1 and residual stress F2 acting on the heating element 30 formed to be curved have action to decrease thermal stress F3 and thermal stress F4 when generating heat, so that the crack of the heating element 30 is prevented and the rapid heating is achieved. Therefore, rise time of the image forming apparatus equipped with such a heating element 30 is shortened, and the speeding-up thereof is achieved. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
