PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly stable multi-wavelength quantum dot laser device of low oscillation initiation current and low operating current. SOLUTION: A layered product in the vertical direction of a quantum dot active region 140 having different light-emitting wavelengths is used, various laser oscillation states are formed by modulating the thicknesses of each of quantum dot active regions P<SB>1</SB>to P<SB>m</SB>, material compositions, and quantum dot sizes. If current applied to the quantum dot laser device is greater than an oscillation initiation current condition, lasers having different wavelengths can be simultaneously obtained in each quantum dot active region, and this allows the application of a multiwavelength dot laser device to be achieved.
