PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a biaryl compound dispensing with an expensive and complicate production facility, providing a relatively free functional group and having excellent reaction efficiency. SOLUTION: The method for producing a biaryl compound disclosed in the invention comprises a step to react an oxazoline compound expressed by formula (II) in an organic solvent in the presence of a ruthenium catalyst and a hydrogen scavenger. The biaryl compound produced by the method can be used as various chemical products such as chemical catalysts or their synthetic intermediate as it is or through the formation of a complex with a transition metal.
