The lock has a pivotable arrester hook (1) loaded by a spring component in a disengaged position and includes a control handle (12). The actuator has a contact surface (14), by which a locking bolt (3) or locking part is extended to a position during locking of an opened front hood. The arrester hook in the disengaged position is moved into engaged position or is pivoted in a direction of its engaged position during locking of the front hood. A pre-loaded spring part moves the arrester hook into its engaged position, and the arrester hook is loaded by the spring part in the engaged position.
