PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved sliding bearing having excellent general-purpose property by enabling its use also in accordance with the omnidirectional specifications to make it suitable for the construction of buildings such as a multistoried building, a condominium or the like irrespective of its basic directional specifications being suitable for the construction of a bridge. SOLUTION: This sliding bearing has an upper shoe 1 capable of being attached to a lower face side of a superstructure body, a lower shoe 2 capable of being attached to an upper face side of a substructure body, and an elastic body 3 provided in the vertical direction between the upper shoe 1 and the lower shoe 2. The upper shoe 1 is constituted as a sliding mechanism 6 having an upper side member 4 and a lower side member 5 sliding and moving freely in specific directions in the horizontal direction for each other.
