PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a theft preventing system capable of reducing the time and effort of a user when preventing theft of a projector and of adequately preventing theft of the projector. SOLUTION: An authentication information supply device 200 is constituted by a storage part 220 which stores authentication information 222, and a supply side communication part 210 which transmits the authentication information 222 to the projector 100 through a power line 400. The projector 100 is constituted by a projector side communication part 110 which receives the authentication information 222 through the power line 400, a determination part 130 which determines permission/rejection of use of the projector 100 based on the authentication information 222, and a control part 140 which controls to start the projector 100 when determining permission of use and which controls not to start the projector when determining rejection of use of the projector 100.
