PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compression apparatus for removing air bubbles inside the compression apparatus which performs compression utilizing liquid, and an ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus. SOLUTION: The compression apparatus which is provided with a balloon 38 used by being mounted on the ultrasonic transmission/reception surface of a probe 12, wherein compression force is added to an object by injecting/discharging the liquid to/from the balloon, comprises at least two tubes connected to the balloon 38 and a liquid moving mechanism for moving the liquid inside the balloon 38 out of the balloon by making the liquid flow from one tube to the other tube. Also, the compression apparatus is provided with a flow path change means 81 for changing the flow path of the liquid flowing inside the tube 38 and a bubble removal means 83 for removing the air bubbles of the liquid, and the bubble removal means 83 is connected to the flow path change means 81.
