PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure sealability between a blade assembly and a housing even if the blade assembly has irregularities.

SOLUTION: The developing device has: a cartridge housing 35 with an opening 75; a sealing member 72 provided along the opening 75; a developing roller 36 supported by the cartridge housing 35 freely rotatably and further carrying a developer at the surface; a blade 61 abutted against the developing roller 36 at the tip side; and a reinforcing plate 63 reinforcing the blade 61. The developing device further includes: a blade unit 60 fitted to the opening 75 of the cartridge housing 35 via the sealing member 72; and a sheet member 65 formed at the face confronted with the seal member 72 in the blade unit 60 and covering a step part.
