A method for isolating pericytes derived from human umbilical cord is provided to isolate and purify the pericytes, which has high viability and proliferation capability, with high purity through a convenient process. A method for obtaining pericytes derived from human umbilical cord comprises the steps of: (a) isolating an artery from umbilical cord; (b) after culturing the isolated artery and the artery removed umbilical cord in a culture solution including collagenase, pronase and dienase at a temperature of 35-38 deg.C for 2-6 hours, isolating floating supernatant therefrom; and (c) isolating the pericytes from cell mass collected from the floating supernatant and purifying them. To establish the pericyte derived from the human umbilical cord, the pericyte obtained from the method is sub-cultured.
