DIGITAL BROADCASTING SYSTEM AND METHOD OF PROCESSING DATA

A digital broadcasting system and a data processing method are provided to encode mobile services data additionally and transmit the encoded mobile services data to a receiver, thereby improving reception performance. A service multiplexer comprises a main service MUX(Multiplexer)(110), a mobile service MUX(120), a service information null packet generator(130), a re-MUX(140), and a controller(150). The main service MUX receives main services data and a PSI/PSIP(Program Specific Information/Program and System Information Protocol) table for main services to encapsulate into TS(Transport Stream) packets, and multiplexes the TS packets, and outputs the TS packets to the re-MUX. The mobile service MUX receives various types of mobile services data and a PSI/PSIP table for corresponding motile services to encapsulate into TS packets, multiplexes the TS packets, and outputs the TS packets to the re-MUX. The re-MUX multiplexes the output of the main service MUX and the output of the mobile service MUX, and outputs the multiplexed data to at least one transmitter. The service information null packet generator generates a service information null packet to be multiplexed with a mobile service data packet one to one, and outputs the service information null packet to the re-MUX. The controllers generates service-related information of the mobile service data packet to be multiplexed in the re-MUX one to one, provides the service-related information to the service information null packet generator, and controls the re-MUX to output a mobile service data packet corresponding to the service-related information included into the service information null packet previously and output the service information null packet.
