PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compatibly secure pedestrian protecting performance and rigidity in ordinary use.
SOLUTION: An inside vertical wall part 10B of a front fender panel 10 is mounted on an apron upper member 14 through a cross-sectionally hut shaped energy absorbing bracket 18. A pair of leg parts 18B of the energy absorbing bracket 18 is inclined at a predetermined angle to the inside in the vehicle widthwise direction relative to the vehicle vertical direction. Consequently, the energy absorbing bracket 18 falls down to the inside in the vehicle widthwise direction and deforms the inside vertical wall part 10B in the direction to open when a collision body 32 abuts on a parting part 34 of the front fender panel 10 and a hood 16 from above. Consequently, energy is effectively absorbed. The rigidity of the front fender panel 10 in ordinary use is never sacrificed as it is not constituted to provide a cutout, etc. on the energy absorbing bracket 18.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
