A method for controlling a refrigerator is provided to prevent the temperature inside the refrigerator from being raised by differently setting the return temperature to refrigeration according to the external temperature. A refrigerator comprises a freezing room evaporator, a refrigeration room evaporator, a refrigerant control valve, a freezing room fan, and a refrigeration room fan. A method for controlling the refrigerator includes the steps of deforesting the freezing room evaporator to operate the refrigerator in a deforesting mode of the freezing room evaporator when the continuous operating time of the freezing room fan is more than predetermined time(S1,S2); and completing the deforesting of the freezing room evaporator to complete the deforesting mode of the freezing room evaporator of the refrigerator when the temperature detected from a deforesting sensor, after the refrigerator is operated in the deforesting mode, is more than predetermined return temperature to refrigeration(S5). The deforesting completion step compares at least one return temperature to refrigeration according to the surrounding temperature with the temperature detected from the deforesting sensor(S3,S4).
