CHARGING DEVICE, IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS AND CHARGING METHOD

A charging apparatus, an image-forming apparatus, and a charging method are provided to realize a stable charging function of the image-forming apparatus employing a contact charging system. A charging apparatus comprises a charging member and a particle supply section. A bias voltage is applied to the charging member. The charging member is contacted with an image carry surface of an image carrier in order to charge the image carry surface. The particle supply section supplies charging auxiliary particles formed of conductive particles having diamond particles, which are contained in a portion which is contacted with the image carry surface of the charging member. The charging member is a rotatively supported charging roller(102). The particle supply section supplies the conductive particles to the charging member by a rotatively supported supply roller(101). The charging roller is a rotatably supported roller to which a prescribed charging bias voltage is applied by a charging bias voltage application section(104) and comes into contact with a photoconductive surface of a photoconductive drum(3) for the purpose of charging the photoconductive surface.
