[Class 22] A method of making foamed slag consisting in delivering water into contact with molten slag passing through space to a collecting device is characterized in that the water in the form of a jet or the like is delivered into contact with the under surface of the falling slag. As shown, slag runs down a trough a and falls between projections on a rotating wheel or drum d, water from a spout c striking against the falling slag stream. The spout c, has a nozzle c<1> of the same width as the trough a. Instead of the wheel d a travelling conveyer may be used. Specifications 335,875, [Class 22], and 361,139 are referred to.</p> |
