PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a styrene resin foamed particle which can be foamed preliminarily and molded to produce a food package that suppresses permeating contents such as oil and fat from permeating into a package wall or a package inside. SOLUTION: The styrene resin foamed particle for a food package, which contains a styrene monomer at 1,000 ppm or less and has the particle surface coated with 0.01-0.5 pts.wt. of an aliphatic acid amide and/or an aliphatic acid bisamide, more preferably in combination with 0.2-0.5 pts.wt. of an aliphatic acid metal salt, relative to 100 pts.wt. of the resin particle is provided.
