The invention relates to a method of combining the signals from pressure sensors (i.e. hydrophones) and particle motion sensors (i.e. geophones or accelerometers) co-located in marine seismic streamers (111). It is well known that at low frequencies, a geophone signal is very noisy. Therefore, the hydrophone signals (which are less noisy at low frequencies) are used to calculate low frequency geophone signals. These calculated low frequency geophone signals are then merged with the geophone signals which have been filtered to remove the noisy low-frequency portion. Further, the two broad bandwidth data sets can then be combined to calculate the full up- and down-going wavefields. |
