A parasol is provided to constitute a screw of a screw rod with plural line screws to make the folding and unfolding actions performed promptly and easily and to secure safety against strong wind. A folding device folds and unfolds ribs(31) and a shade by ascending/descending rod(20) on a fixing pillar(10). The folding device includes a screw rod rotation unit, a screw rod(51), a nut and a safety unit. The screw rod rotates in one position inside the fixing pillar. The nut is fixed on the lower end of the ascending/descending rod. The screw rod rotation unit comprises a bevel gear. The screw rod consists of two-line or three-line screw(511). The screw rod rotation unit includes a driven bevel gear, a driving bevel gear and a handle(555). The handle is coupled to a shaft of the driving bevel gear. |
