摘要

The present invention provides novel compounds which contain no zinc or phosphorus components for use in lubricating compositions, e.g. for replacing ZnDTP. To this end the present invention provides a compound having the general formula (1), wherein R₁ and R₂ are independently hydrogen and/or a linear or branched chain, saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon moiety with from 1 to 30 carbon atoms or a substituted hydrocarbon moiety, including substitutions where one or more of these hydrocarbon moieties have been substituted with hetero-atoms; wherein the total number of carbon atoms of R₁ and R₂ is not more than 40; and wherein X is oxygen or sulphur.
