<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact laser projection apparatus by which a high quality bright image with no distortion can be obtained by two-dimensional scanning. <P>SOLUTION: The laser projection apparatus PJ is provided with: a laser light source PO; an incident optical system P1 which condenses the laser light emitted from the laser light source PO; and a scanning device (MEMS mirror) P2 which deflects the laser light emitted from the incident optical system P1 in a horizontal scanning direction and a vertical scanning direction which intersect at right angle each other by using a mirror MR; and a projection optical system P3 which guides the laser light deflected with the scanning device P2 onto a face to be scanned. The scanning device P2 deflects the light in the horizontal scanning direction by resonance driving of the mirror MR and deflects the light in the vertical scanning direction by non-resonance driving of the mirror MR. The incident optical system P1 is composed of an anamorphic optical system having different powers in horizontal and vertical scanning directions, and converged light is made incident onto the mirror MR in the horizontal scanning direction and nearly parallel light is made incident in the vertical scanning direction.
