A water filter assembly for a refrigerator is provided to use water continuously in case of replacing a filter cartridge by forming first and second valves for supplying water even if the filter cartridge is separated from a filter head. A water filter assembly for a refrigerator comprises a filter head(2), a filter cartridge(10), and a bypass member. The filter head, mounted on the refrigerator, has a space part communicated with an inlet hole(4) and an outlet hole(6), and an opening part at its one side. The filter cartridge, separated from the opening part, consists of a housing(22) having an inlet(18) and an outlet(20), a filter(24) for filtering impurities included in water flowed into the inlet, and a filter case(26) for surrounding the filter. The bypass member, installed at the space part, discharges water flowed into the inlet hole to the outlet hole when the filter cartridge is mounted on the filter head, and bypasses water flowed from the inlet hole to the outlet hole when the filter cartridge is separated from the filter head. The outlet hole in the filter head and the outlet in the filter cartridge are formed at the upper center of the filter head and the filter cartridge. The bypass member includes a first valve(34) flowing out or blocking water flowed into the inlet hole to the filter cartridge, a second valve(36), and a fixing supporter(38) fixing and supporting the first and second valves. The second valve opens a space between the filter cartridge and the filter head, or discharges water bypassed from the first valve to the outlet hole. |
