PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser light source device with which overshoot in an initial driving state of an SHG element is suppressed, an image display device, a monitor device, and a lighting device. SOLUTION: The laser light source device is equipped with: a light source 11 to emit a laser beam of a fundamental wave; the SHG element 12 to convert a wavelength of the laser beam; a temperature detecting portion 14 to detect the temperature of the SHG element 12; and a temperature controlling portion 15 to control the temperature of the SHG element 12, wherein the temperature detecting portion 14 has a timing controlling portion 27 to make a temperature detection interval shorter in a stabilized driving stage of the SHG element 12 than in its initial driving stage.
