A method for improving the response time of an LC shutter is provided to add a retardation compensation plate between a first polarizing plate and an LCD panel and apply overdriving to each of a rising time and a falling time of the LC shutter, thereby shortening the rising and falling time of the LC shutter to shorten the response time of the LCD shutter. A method for improving the response time of an LC(Liquid Crystal) shutter comprises the followings: setting conditions that an LC residual retardation is not zero in the LC cell of a vertical electric field as the minimum luminance conditions of the LC shutter; adding a retardation compensation plate(52) between a first polarizing plate(51) and an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) panel(53) to attenuate the conditions that the LC residual retardation is not zero so as to set the conditions to conditions that the LC residual retardation is zero; and applying overdriving to each of a rising time and a falling time of an LC shutter driving voltage to shorten the response time. |
