<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data transfer method capable of transferring reception data through other line unit without discarding them even when the reception data overflow in one line unit for instance and improving a cost performance, and communication equipment for executing the method. <P>SOLUTION: A control package (2) stores a prescribed threshold beforehand. One line package (1) stores data received from one network in a buffer memory (11) for reception and transmits the free capacity of the buffer memory (11) for the reception to the control package (2). The control package (2) judges whether or not the received free capacity exceeds the prescribed threshold stored beforehand. When judging that the received free capacity exceeds the prescribed threshold stored beforehand, the control package (2) transfers a part of the received data from the one line unit (1) to other line unit (1).
