<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power transmission device capable of reducing the amount of oil without lowering its durability. <P>SOLUTION: A transfer 1 (the power transmission device) comprises an outer case 3 (a rotor), a gear set 5 for transmitting the driving force of the outer case 3, a transfer case 7 (a housing) storing the outer case 3 and the gear set 5, and oil filled in the transfer case 7. The transfer case 7 has an opening portion 9. The opening portion 9 is closed with a cover 11. The cover 11 is protruded inside the transfer case 7.
