PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly cope with trouble of an individual car position indication device in an elevator in which the high function individual car position indication device, handled as a custom-made article and normally requiring a time for preparing a spare part thereof, is installed in the car. SOLUTION: In an elevator, an individual car position indication device capable of individually guiding and indicating a floor at which the car is stopped and a floor at which the car is to be next stopped is installed in the car. As the individual car position indication device, a liquid crystal system high function individual car position indication device 6LC or a light-emitting diode system normal function individual car position indication device 6LD is used replaceably. If a trouble occurs when the high function individual car position indication device is used, the normal function individual car position indication device is replaced with the defective high function device.
