The converter has a silicon based enable switch (Q3) that is series connected with a third-nitride depletion mode control switch (Q1). An enhancement mode silicon synchronous switch (Q2) is connected with the third-nitride depletion mode control switch. The enhancement mode switch is arranged in a path of conduction to the third-nitride depletion mode control switch to selectively open or close the conduction path to the third-nitride depletion mode control switch.
