PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a security system which is inexpensively implemented without receiving data on personal attributes regarding privacy of the user. SOLUTION: The security system is provided with: a personal identification information collecting means for collecting personal identification information; a control panel for performing personal authentication, based on the personal identification information; and an electric lock locking/unlocking device for locking/unlocking an electric lock arranged at an entrance of a place where security is ensured, based on a result of the personal authentication. The personal identification information collecting means has built therein or attached thereto an image pickup means, and the control panel has a personal attribute determining means for determining whether the person is the handicapped or not, by analyzing an image picked up by the image pickup means, and an electric lock control means for extending a time period for unlocking the electric lock if the person is the handicapped.
