PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-sulfur fuel composition having a low risk of causing clogging in a fuel line filter for removing foreign matter and coking in a fuel injection nozzle, having good combustibility and good volatility, and yet retaining good oxidation stability. SOLUTION: Disclosed is a fuel composition wherein the sulfur content is not more than 5 mass ppm, and the total content of alkyl-substituted benzenes in each of which both of any two adjacent carbon atoms constituting a benzene ring do not have substituted alkyl groups is 0.5-5.0 vol.%.
