PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of having the possibility of causing an erroneous determination affected by a road surface condition and driving operation, when determining supply abnormality of fuel based on angular acceleration of a crankshaft. SOLUTION: This method, for determining the supply abnormality of the fuel on an optional cylinder in a multi-cylinder engine 10, comprises a step of determining whether or not an engine 10 is put in a predetermined operation state, a step of associatively calculating the angular acceleration of the crankshaft 42 of the engine 10 with respective cylinders when the engine 10 is put in the predetermined operation state, a step of determining a correlation between the angular acceleration of the crankshaft 42 calculated thereby and a fuel supply quantity set to a cylinder corresponding to this angular acceleration, and a step of determining the existence of the supply abnormality of the fuel to the optional cylinder by comparing the correlation determined thereby with the correlation preset in response to the operation state of the engine 10.
