<p>The method involves providing an internal combustion engine (10) with two groups (12, 14) of cylinders (1-6) and two storage catalyzers (26, 30). The catalyzer (26) is flowed from the exhaust gas of the group (12), and the catalyzer (30) is flowed from the exhaust gas of the group (14). The catalyzers are heated with air rates of larger and smaller than 1 by periodically alternating operation of the engine. The period of the operation is adjusted to characteristics of the catalyzers in two appropriate heating phases, where catalyzers are designed as three-way-catalyzers. An independent claim is also included for a control device for an internal combustion engine.</p> |
