ARTICLE HAVING ORGANIC-INORGANIC COMPOSITE FILM FORMED THEREIN

Disclosed is an article having a silica film having an excellent mechanical strength and contains an organic material. The article comprises a base material and an organic-inorganic composite film formed on the surface of the base material, wherein the composite film comprises silica as the main ingredient. In the X-ray diffraction under the X-ray incident angle fixed at 10 from the film surface, the composite film shows a value produced by normalizing an intensity value of a peak with a diffraction angle of 3 to 100 by an intensity value of a halo pattern peak with an diffraction angle of 20 to 300 of (0.19A + 0.03) or lower (wherein A represents a film thickness [mum]). In the Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, the composite film shows a value produced by normalizing an intensity value of a peak belonging to a Si-OH group appearing around 950 cm-1 by an intensity value of a peak belonging to a Si-O-Si bond appearing around 1100 cm-1 of 0.25 or lower.
