<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup device in which a liquid crystal optical element to perform aberration correction of incident light and limitation of an aperture has a temperature compensation function, and which can perform aberration correction and aperture limitation smoothly irrespective of an ambient temperature. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal optical element 11 is provided with first and second transparent substrates, a liquid crystal held between the first and second transparent substrates, and aberration correction and aperture limiting patterns formed in the first and second transparent substrates, respectively. A liquid crystal control means 40 for driving the liquid crystal optical element 11 is provided with a temperature correction circuit 42 and a liquid crystal driving circuit 41 constituted of thermistors to compensate for the temperature of the liquid crystal optical element 11, and a control voltage P6 temperature-compensated by the temperature compensation circuit is supplied to the liquid crystal optical element 11. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
