PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To equally disperse thermal energy generated during brake operation to the inner and outer peripheral sides of a brake disk across a fastening hole. SOLUTION: A brake lining 5 for a railroad vehicle is pushed to a sliding surface 2a of the brake disk 2 bolted to a disk body 4 or a wheel 1 attached to an axle 3 through the fastening hole 2b formed in the sliding surface 2a. The brake lining is provided with a friction member 5a pushed to the sliding surface 2a, and a back plate 5b attached to a brake caliper and supporting the friction member 5a. The friction member 5a is dividedly arranged into more than two in the radial direction of the brake disk 2. The dividedly arranged friction members 5a are arranged in portions except on a concentric circle passing through the center of the fastening hole 2b. Each friction member 5a is so formed that the outer line of the fastening hole 5a does not intersect a center line 7 in the radial direction of the friction member 5a during brake operation. Since the maximum temperature of the brake disk falls, thermal deformation and cracking of the brake disk are reduced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
