PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate easy handling of a cord in an exhaust gas sensor mounting structure for a four-cycle engine wherein an exhaust gas sensor connected with the cord extending in a side direction is mounted on a side surface of a cylinder head structuring a part of an engine main body by determining an extending direction of the cord from the exhaust gas sensor constantly when the cylinder head of the exhaust gas sensor. SOLUTION: A sensor guard member 49, wherein a sensor mounting hole 39 for mounting the exhaust gas sensor 38 in a manner for facing its tip end part to inside of an exhaust gas port 34 is mounted on the cylinder head 26, having a fitting recessed part 48 for positioning the cord 45 in its extending direction by fitting with a rear end part of the exhaust gas sensor 38 is mounted to the cylinder head 26.
