PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and precisely evaluate an edge face shape of a cylindrical tubular body or a cylindrical columnar body. SOLUTION: An edge face 92 of a body 90 to be measured of a cylindrical tubular shape or a cylindrical columnar shape is photographed by a camera 10 having an angle of view in a direction substantially parallel to the edge face 92 to detect the outermost contour line of the edge face 92 of the body 90 to be measured from the photographed image 12. The shape of the edge face is evaluated according to whether or not the curved line shape of the detected outermost contour line is a curved line shape corresponding to the position in the photographed image 12 of the outermost contour line.
