PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for polishing a large number of coil springs, by which method and apparatus, the coil springs can be easily set, and polishing efficiency can be improved. SOLUTION: The method for setting the coil springs comprises a step of inserting child collars into parent holes respectively using a parent collar 5 which can be inserted into two or more insertion holes formed on a polishing machine and the child collars 7 which can be inserted into two or more parent holes 6 formed on the parent collar, and a step of setting the coil springs 1 by inserting the coil springs 1 into respective child holes 12 of the child collars in such a manner that both ends or one end of the coil springs 1 project from both ends or one end of the child collar. The coil springs set on the polishing machine by the method for setting the coil springs are polished by means of a rotary polishing tool.
