<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a motor current in a draft reading operation, and achieve power saving in an image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with a scanner unit, an automatic document feeder (ADF), and a control unit 20. In each motor driving unit 30 of the scanner unit and the ADF, feedback voltage of the motor current generated by a feedback voltage generating circuit 32 and standard voltage generated by a resistance dividing circuit 35 are compared by a voltage comparing circuit 34, the control circuit controls so as to make each motor current constant. The control circuit 20 is provided with a reading picture quality setting unit, a reading operation discrimination unit, an original paper quality setting unit, and a motor speed switching unit, and switches a motor speed based on each setting of reading picture quality, reading operation, and paper quality using these units, switches dividing resisters of the resistance dividing circuit 35, and switches setting of the standard voltage. By the means, it is possible to reduce the motor current than a current value at a starting time in each reading operation status, and achieve the power saving. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
